Daily Devotion: The Where of Vision

Bible Reading: Proverbs 29:18-27

Key Verse: Verse 18 – “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he."

Key Words: Where there is no vision

Vision…now, that is an interesting word! Vision is seeing things that don’t exist any place but in your heart and mind.

The pastors need a vision for the church.
The parents need a vision for the family.
The President needs a vision for the country.
And the list goes on and on.

Oftentimes vision can be hindered by eyesight. In Numbers 13, Moses sent out twelve spies to spy out the Promised Land. It was a land flowing with milk and honey but ten of the spies said, “There are Anaks in the land. They are giants. We are not strong enough to defeat them!” Their eyes affected their vision.

On the other hand, David went to the front of the battle against the Philistines. When he arrived, he saw the giant Goliath mocking the God of Israel. David said, “Is there not a cause?” We know that David went out and fought against Goliath. His physical sight did not affect his vision. David knew that Goliath would fall. He had a vision of Goliath, “This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcasses of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.”

David had a vision. The ten spies had sight. Where there is no vision, the people fail. Israel failed; but because David had a vision Israel succeeded. Ask God to give you a vision for your church, home, business.
