I Corinthians 4:1-8
Key Verse: Verse 2 - “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful."
Key Words: that a man be found faithful
As a child of God it makes sense to me that we should be faithful to God. This word faithful means dependable, trustworthy.
Are you faithful (dependable, trustworthy) in your Christian walk: in purity, witnessing, Bible study, prayer, and your own church attendance?
Why be faithful? If your mate were unfaithful to you (not trustworthy, not dependable) what type of marital relationship would you have? Not very good, I would imagine. So it is with our relationship with God. Certainly an unfaithful Christian has a poor relationship with his Heavenly Father. If your mate offered you excuses or even reasons for their unfaithfulness to you, would that justify their unfaithfulness? I think not.
Have you ever stopped to consider what an unfaithful life to God produces? Before David fell into adultery, he was unfaithful to God. Before Achan stole, he was unfaithful to God. Before Jonah was lost at sea, he was unfaithful to God. Before King Saul lost his kingdom, he was unfaithful to God. Before Eli lost his sons, he was unfaithful to God.
On the other hand, faithfulness to God produces blessings (Proverbs 28:20), rewards (Revelation 2:10), and more authority (Luke 19:17).
God has been faithful to us (John 3:16). The least we can do is be faithful to Him.
The next time someone asks, “Why should I be faithful to God’s Word? Why should I spend time in prayer? Why should I attend the church services? Why?” Because it’s the righteous thing to do.
What to do:
✞ Be faithful or be “unrighteous.” The choice is yours.
